Ultrasound-Guided Nerve Blocks Improve Success Rate of Closed Reduction of Colles' Fractures.

A new notable study from Central and Northern Jutland is shedding light on how nerve blocks can help manage Colles fractures in the Emergency Department. The study investigated whether using peripheral nerve blocks (median and radial nerve blocks) during the procedure could improve the quality of the closed reduction.

Interestingly, while patients didn’t report less pain during the closed reduction procedure compared to the standard haematoma block, those who got the nerve blocks ended up with better bone alignment on X-rays and fewer of them needed follow-up surgery.
